A major accident was averted at the Delhi airport this morning as an IndiGo and a SpiceJet aircraft came face-to-face on the runway.
The IndiGo flight had reportedly just arrived from Lucknow and the Spicejet flight was about to take off when the two aircraft came dangerously close.
There may have been a miscommunication with the Air Traffic Control tower, suggests an initial assessment.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the safety regulator, is investigating how the near-disaster took place.
This is the second close call to be reported this morning.
In Goa, a Jet Airways flight skidded and took a 360 degree spin on the runway just before take-off. Some passengers were injured while being moved out of the plane on emergency slides.
