After prolonged movie promotions across the country and abroad, Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s rom-com ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha‘ opened amid much fanfare. The film showed a massive growth during the weekend as it collected around Rs 17 crore on its first Saturday, as reported by Boxofficeindia.com.
After witnessing a good opening of Rs 11.71 crore, the film has now collected a total of around of Rs 28.71 crore and is expected to improve further in the extended holiday season around the Independence Day and Janmashtami.
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, the film is a love story revolving around the problem of open defecation in India while promoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cleanliness initiative – Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Laced with good songs like ‘Gori tu latth maar’ besides light romantic numbers ‘Bakheda’ and ‘Hans mat pagli’, the film promises a strong story and some light moments along with the tense ones. It revolves around the story of a new bride who leaves home in the absence of a proper toilet and how her husband fights for the same to get her the facility amid protests from the family seniors, especially men.
